Relationships (Matthew 22:37-39)

Today my friend said, "Relationships are the meaning of life." What a wonderful statement. Without relationships what is life? Who would you enjoy it with?

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'This is the first and greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:37-38) My first and most important relationship is with God first. For the past two years I have been learning how important that is to me. When I am being refreshed and filled by God's love, it is so much easier to love on the people in my life and receive love back. We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

The next part of Matthew 22:39 say's the second command is, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' To me it is learning that it not about having the perfect friend or parent, it about just loving them not because you have too. It is about simply loving and to be loved. To be humble enough to love the relationships in my life unconditionally and to be vulnerable enough to accept the love from the relationships in my life.

Relationships are the meaning of life! If I am looking for any truth in this world, that is it.

"To be humble enough to love the relationships in my life unconditionally and to be vulnerable enough to accept the love from the relationships in my life." - this...this right here is totally awesome. Just wondering though...how does one love? It would be akin to the 'one another's' found throughout the new testament. As Jesus said, "love one another as I have loved you", the way we can do this is by greeting one another, encouraging one other, praying for another, waiting on one another, admonishing one another, comforting one another, and so on. I hope this encourages you. Be blessed!
