What is respect? This word has flew out of my mouth like an unknown forecast, undefined. The bible is my place of wisdom but respect is still undefined with in the pages. I think?
Here is what I discovered on my journey of defineing "respect" which is seeming the most important word/action claimed for good communication in any relationship. I have found this word "respect" to be life changing.
"Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." (Ephesians 5:21) If I am blunt with God, this word "Submit" really kinda makes me angry. The real definition is: yield to the control of another, to obey. The world "submit" is a very harsh unsettling word in English and one that God is showing me is not what he meant. Submit is used more in the new testament then the old, so from Greek to Hebrew the word "submit" in essence means kana in Hebrew. Kana means several things, 1)be "humbled" or "humiliate" 2) To subdue by a covenant of faithfulness.
Oh man! "Kana to one another of our reverence for God." Reverence for God means: Fear and respect for God. To have the ultimate heart of respect is to be in a state of Kana: through being humbled by having every word I say and action I do indicate value and appreciation for the other person ;and to fear God.
Submit= Kana, subdue, humility, honor and respect
To respect or "submit to" someone is to be humbled. In relation to marriage, "to submit" means to respect your husband because honor is his greatest need. And honor is having every word I say and action I do indicate value and appreciation for my husband , which is Kana.
