Know (John 8:32)

I just found a section in my bible that I had never noticed before. It's called the Word Wealth Index. Within this index are key words to better understand God's word. This index gives the word, the Greek or Hebrew origin and then the verse it is located. The very first word I noticed was, know. I then realized how this word keeps reoccurring in my life. I knew then I must study it....

There are two knows this index refers too. One is know, to perceive or be acquainted with. The second is the one I want to focus on; know, is a recognition of something of truth by personal experience. This know is seem in John 8:32. Jesus said in his sermon on the Mount of Olives, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Later you see in the sermon that Jesus defines truth as the words of his father. I would define that as, God's voice[in your heart] or anything that is inline with the scripture. It is not the know of an acquaintance with the bible/word of God, it is God speaking to you about his truth for you and experiencing that.

I recently told someone that my theme for life right now is, knowledge. Know is a root of knowledge. Knowledge is defined as a process of learning and finding reasoning. I have been reading a lot. I have been exposing myself to new perspectives, science and history. I am enjoying it so much. I am learning that knowledge changes your perceptions. We gain greater appreciation and empathy with knowledge.

Life and following Jesus is a learning process. A processes of knowing ,of knowledge, and of finding truth. I am seeing that the more I explore, take risks and read the more knowledge I gain. When I do this nothing is singled out as insignificant, even the bad things. Everything becomes an experience with God.

To know sets us free.

Knowing keeps us moving forward in this kingdom, it keeps us focused on him, it shows us the power of open-mindedness, and it brings greater satisfaction/freedom to our life.
