Risk and I don't mean the game (Ecclesiates 11:7-10)

My friend challenged me last year, to try something new each day. What that really meant was I needed to go outside my comfort zone, be adventurous and take risks. Taking risks are hard, even going to a restaurant you have never been too is hard, why? Sitting at a coffee shop alone is hard, why? Because we are uncomfortable when we don't know how things work or when things are new or when we feel judged. Since January God has been teaching and training me over and over about taking risks or in others words taking "leaps of faith." This simple challenged turned into a lesson from God about my faith.

Through trying something new each day I did things like: 1) Bought and grew a chia-pet 2) Went to a coffee shop alone twice a week 3) Ate an ugly fruit 4) Went to parks I had never been too before 5) started reading 5 books at one time, 6) Did crafts with the mentally handicap and 7) started this blog. The reward far out weighed my fear. I felt like for the first time I was experiencing life, life the way God wanted me too. I was enjoying the small things and being the most creative I had ever been.

Message Ecclesiates 11:7-10

7-8 Oh, how sweet the light of day,
   And how wonderful to live in the sunshine!
   Even if you live a long time, don't take a single day for granted.
   Take delight in each light-filled hour,
   Remembering that there will also be many dark days
   And that most of what comes your way is smoke.

 9 You who are young, make the most of your youth.
   Relish your youthful vigor.
   Follow the impulses of your heart.
   If something looks good to you, pursue it.
   But know also that not just anything goes;
   You have to answer to God for every last bit of it.

 10 Live footloose and fancy-free—
   You won't be young forever.
   Youth lasts about as long as smoke.

Take delight in being adventurous and taking risks. Do everything in the name of the Lord. Do things you have always wanted to do, volunteer, take advantage of opportunities and do something new everyday. When we start to take more leaps of faith we become more open for God to use us and for life to be more rewarding.
