I became angry one time talking about my life and upgrading our apartment, to someone and their reaction was......." Well, doesn't God tell us to live simply?" I had no response but in my head I was thinking, sure? Maybe? Wait!........God's doesn't want me to live in cave! Does He?

In the book that I am writing, in it is a section on "Junk Drawers." We all have them,
junk drawers, they maybe a couple of missed placed boxes, several closets or an entire basement. Either way, we all have too much stuff! Today I read in a marriage devotional and they mentioned that "stuff" a lot of times prevents our quality times together with the people we love. When we have to much
stuff we worry about things like, paying off our
stuff , organizing it, moving it and even wondering where it is when we need it. Our
stuff turns into clutter. Clutter is everything we do not need or use regularly. Clutter divides relationships, causes subconscious/conscious stress and most importantly hinders our relationship with God.When we surround ourselves with more
stuff it directly parallels with needing God less.
In the bible it talks about a
ccepting our portion because it has been given to us in full is doesn't say, "accept your portion but also take 1 or 2 more helpings." Ironically it is easy to over eat just like it is easy to have more
stuff then we need. When we over eat we are not accepting our portion and when we have
junk drawers, we are not accepting our portion either. Accepting our portions is seeing everything that we have as a gift form God for His glory. Do we recognize his glory in our cluttered home or our
junk drawers? No! It is not about asking the question, "What should I give up?" Rather the question, "What should I keep, Lord?"
When we humble ourselves to this question "What should I keep?" It a lines us with God's thinking and accepting our portion. When we do, we realize,
stuff cause unnecessary worry and
stuff can not fill my needs like God can. Also, also....we then appreciate what we do have rather than what we don't have. Glory?...YES!
And......
No, God does not want me to live in a cave.
